DENVER & RIO GRAND WESTERN L-109
2-8-8-2 MALLETS (Ex-N&W Y2s)

These heavy pusher engines that were so common in the backwoods of Virginia nad West Virginia became common on the slopes of the Rockies. The N&W originally built these monsters in 1917  [JUMP]. The Rio Grande purchased them second hand from the N&W to ease wartime power shortages during WWII and used them very successfully as helpers on the heavy Rocky mountain grades of the Moffett Tunnel and on Tennessee Pass.

The Division Point and our premier steam builder Boo-Rim Precision will bring you these long awaited Mallets. Call your dealer and get those reservations in!

As usual, we are indebted to those folks who publish the information and photos we need. We urge you to buy their books and photos.
