After World War II (and bankruptcy court), the D&RGW was at the end of the line for lightweight streamlined passenger equipment, which was badly needed for it's "Prospector" and "Royal Gorge" trains. Luckily for the "Grande", the C&O was overly optimistic! The C&O gave some of it's slots to the DRGW, and the D&RGW managed to aquired some 25 cars! These cars were put to use on the "Prospector" and "Royal Gorge" trains. Some of these cars also found use on the "Yampa Valley Mail (later just "Yampa Valley") train. The "Prospector" was usually run as a 5-6 car consist, with the "Royal Gorge" cars being cut in at Grand Junction. (The "Prospector" ran between Denver and Salt Lake City.)
Our offering will be done in the following sets, and with individual cars available to beef up the consist! They'll go fast, so contact your Division Point dealer ASAP!
UPDATE (10/13/06): For you Rio Grande "ZEPHYR" fans, we've added the unskirted single-stripe #1231 baggage-dormitory-coach as it appeared in the "Zephyr" consist.
