Steam Locomotives |
New Louisville & Nashville Project ! !
O.K., you crazy and neglected L&N rail fans. I've got to admit, thanks to our recent "stealth" L&N cabooses, I've had a few requests for a L&N steam project. It's been suggested that I forget about USRA locos, and do something particularly "Old Reliable".
So here we go . . . how about the truly "Old Reliable" J-1a, J-2 and J-2a Mikados? Talk about reliable, these 2-8-2s lasted through the end of steam! Built by the L&N at their South Louisville shops, from 1914-1921, these "drag" Mikes spent their lives hauling coal and doing transfer and hump service in Kentucky and around Cincinatti. Any real L&N modeler needs a couple of these Mikes. We'll offer these locomotives in 1940s - 1950s era guise.
The Division Point and Boo-Rim will offer this LIMITED EDITION project in different classes and road numbers. You are well advised to contact your dealer to reserve yours!
