Diesel Locomotive |
Two of the more interesting diesel units owned by the Milwaukee were the two home-built 1000 HP units #5900 and #5901. Officially called "Diesel Electric Motor Cars" and out shopped in 1948, the units picked up the name "Bulldogs" because of their distinctively blunt noses. Powered by a GM 12-567-A driving through the front truck only, the units were built to replace aging steam power in light passenger service. Capable of 75 mph and 24,000 lbs. TE., the units were half engine and half baggage car, and were capable of pulling several passenger cars in small commuter train fashion. The Division Point will offer both models with slightly different appliances, and in the 2 paint schemes given them by the Milwaukee. A very small serial numbered run is planned, so get your order in to your dealer as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. Retail price to be announced.
