As Hendrickson and Pelouze note, "Bigger is Better". Beginning with the Tk-K class of tank cars the AT&SF aquired 12,000 to 16,000-gallon tank cars. The Division Point continues the Santa Fe's sizable fleet of non-revenue tank cars. These tanks hauled engine water, lubricating oils, chromate water, solvents, weed killers, and most importantly, locomotive fuels (fuel oil and diesel fuel). These cars were painted silver, black or gray, with colorful identifying bands, depending on usage.
The Division Point contiues to bring you these ubiquitous cars, this time in classes TK-K, L, M, N and O. Richard Hendrickson and Richard Pelouse's book, Santa Fe Tank Cars remains our "bible" for this project and we continue recommend it highly!
