Louisville & Nashville Big and Little Woody Cabooses |
 |
July 27 - - ARRIVED!
The Division Point will offer these L&N wood cabooses in both "Little Woody" (32’)
and "Big Woody" (38’-1") versions. Built in many batches, the "Little Woodies will be offered with both early "Roman"
lettering and later "speed" lettering, and a later updated "Radio-Equipped" version.
In order to build up it's caboose fleet, in 1941 the South Louisville shops began rebuilding
wood-sheathed, steel-underframe ventilated boxcars into cabooses. The first series if "Big Woodies"
were built without cupolas for terminal transfer and mine run service. The later series were built with the
same size cupolas as the "Little Woodies", which made for a pretty distinctive look. Later
shopping of this group for roof replacement and radio installation resulted in another number series.
What L&N fan wouldn't want a couple of these cabs. Call your dealer; make reservations; NOW!
Only 25 of each version produced!
We have to offer thanks to Morning Sun Books and Steven D. Johnson for publishing Louisville
& Nashville Color Guide to Freight and Passenger Equipment, Volume 2. Their book has been most helpful in developing
this project. Steven has graciously permitted the use of his photos . . . a fine book . . buy it!
